Lucas: Six Months!

There are just so many things I adore about newborn photography. Getting to snuggle and pose those brand new creatures, capturing that newborn innocence and sweet, precious moments between the babies and their parents . . . I could go on for a long time you guys. But, alas, this post isn't about newborns.

Lucas' newborn shoot in January

Instead, we're gonna jump ahead a few months. Cause the flip side of newborns is how unbelievably fast they grow! And I loooove to see the all of the changes that happen that first year of life. My husband can attest--I'm the all-reining queen of the "Who Does This Baby Look Like? Game." It fascinates me how babies can change so much from looking like one parent or side of the family to the other, and then back again. I swear, my college roommate's daughter switched from the spitting image of her dad to her mom's identical twin overnight. How. Does. This. Happen?!?!? I can't be the only one amazed by this, right? Please say you play this game, too. At least so Matt will think I'm a little less crazy.

So anyway, it's just perfect that my job is to stare at these babies' faces for hours while I edit, quietly contemplating to myself whether those eyes and dimples are mom's or dad's. Handsome Mr. Lucas here was no different! Those eyes--totally mom's, in case you were wondering.

Three month-old Lucas!

Jumping ahead a few more months, I recently met Lucas and his parents for a morning session at Fortville's Memorial Park for his six-month(!!!) shoot. There is something magical that happens when babies hit the milestones of sitting up and standing with help, usually right around that sixth month. Eyes brighten, smiles get a little bigger, and you can really see little personalities developing!  Lucas was the perfect example--this little man just lit up for the camera this time around, which you can see below! And feel free to comment, leaving your "he looks like mom/that's dad's smile" votes, too!

Miss Eavie

Allow me to introduce you to Miss Eavie. Six month old Eavie is the daughter of my husband's BFF, and future bestie to our own daughter! You might recognize Eavie from some facebook love she's received recently. And if you're really good, you'll remember this photo of a sweet little Christmas stocking--yup, that was Christmas-y Newborn Eavie! Six months later, she's still adorably delicious and totally glammed it up at her latest session. Check her out!

Great Scott!!

Oh Lantern Tree Blog, you have been neglected. So over the next few blog posts, we will be taking trips back through time! No need to find Michael J. and his Delorean, just keep checking this site to travel backwards through the past few months and catch up on all the LTP happenings. "Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads." You can all collectively groan now as I reveal my Back to the Future dorkiness, it's okay.

And now, we start with a quick jump back to March! I had the privilege of capturing Avery, a brand-spanking-new 10 day-old (Cue the collective sigh!). She was accompanied by her mom, two older sisters, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Let me tell you, little Avery was born for the camera, because she not only lasted through her solo pictures, she rocked out shots with her whole entourage! If that doesn't convince you, check out her ability to accessorize--the girl's already got style!

Oh yes, more babies.  You know I can't get enough!!!  I was definitely smitten with Baby Grace last week, when she and her parents came out for her newborn photo session.  At 11 days old, Grace posed like a little rockstar as she snoozed away the whole time . . . Ahh, to live the life of a baby, right?!?  She really did rock it out--we even got some great smiles.  And have you ever seen a baby with longer eyelashes?  Seriously, this model-in-training is already ready for mascara commercials.  Just don't tell her dad.  Rumor has it he's locking her away until she's 50, so I'm sure CoverGirl won't be able to find her until then.  ;)  Enjoy!

Baby Isaiah

Ahh, newborns. Probably the sweetest thing in this world, and I absolutely cannot get enough of them (even though I currently have one at home, attached to my hip!).  So imagine my excitement when I had the chance to capture this teeny tiny, 10 day-old bundle of  adorable sweetness.  Seriously, don't those eyes just make your heart melt? I thought so. Despite all our tries to get him to drift off into baby sleepland, little Isaiah wanted to stay awake and take part in all of the photoshoot excitement!  We managed to capture a few "sleeping" shots, but don't be fooled--this little guy had his own agenda.  He clearly knew better than us that those eyes would steal the show.  :)
